Simon has been qualified for over 30 years as a Chartered Accountant. Simon moved from general practice at PwC to Worthy Trust Company Limited an owner-managed fiduciary business in1994 and has worked at a senior level in the fiduciary services industry ever since.
Simon became managing director of Allied Irish Banks PLC’s fiduciary business (“AIB”) in Jersey in 1999 following the acquisition of Worthy Trust Company Limited, also sitting on the board of AIB Offshore Bank.
In 2007 Simon left AIB to join Sanne Group, at the time a small independent owner-managed trust company as Head of the Private Client division. Simon played a significant role at Sanne and in its growth into a company listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange, including being one of three management directors on the board of the group holding company through various stages of Sanne’s evolution through private equity financing and ultimately the IPO of the business in 2015. Whilst at Sanne, Simon worked closely with some of the world’s wealthiest families and their trusted advisers sitting on the boards of private trust companies, asset holding entities and general partner vehicles, as well as on foundation councils.
Following the IPO Simon acted as a consultant to the Private Client division helping to ensure the smooth transition and succession for the business.
Simon has extensive experience in working in a trustee role with settlors, beneficiaries and protectors across multi generations of families, helping to implement strategies for the effective preservation and enhancement of wealth for current and future generations. Simon is appreciated by his clients for his extensive experience, calm and analytical approach to dealing with issues, his attention to detail and his relationship-driven approach to his role.
Since July 2019, Simon has been a Governor of the 'Friends of Malindi Bright Future Academy', a Jersey charity funding, and now building, a new school in Kenya for over 300 pupils.
Simon graduated from Liverpool University in 1986 with a BA Honours degree in Accounting. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1989 with PwC and became a Fellow of the ICAEW in 1999. Simon has also been a member of STEP since 1997. Simon was ranked in 2018 by Citywealth as one of the “World’s Top 20 trustees”.
I have dealt with Simon Brewer for a number of years and am impressed by his hands on and practical approach. The staff who support Simon share the same features being highly responsive and being practical in their advice. Regulatory requirements can make advice very 'clunky' but Simon and his team at Bond make this a relatively pain free process. Overall I wouldn't think twice about appointing Simon and his team for any trust matter.
